l checked my husband phone. here's what I found.

This is a conversation between wives that might save your peace .

Two friends, Amaka and Jane, talking over fried rice on a Saturday afternoon.

Jane: you won't believe what I did last night.

Amaka: if it involves your kids, your mother in-law,or cheating on your husband, I am already praying for you.

Jane: not that, I checked his phone.

Amaka: drops spoon, Jesus and?

Jane: I found peace.

Amaka: because he caught you?

Jane: no, because I found nothing and I finally understood something.

Amaka: wait, start from the beginning. Why where you checking?

Jane: He's been smiling at his phone at 11 pm laughing like MTN just dashed him Free Data. My said, be fast before someone take what belong to you.

Amaka : so you become inspector general of Whatsapp.

Jane: exactly, waited till he was snoring. Used his fingerprint while he was dead to the world. Heart beating like I was stealing government money.

Amaka: and what did you see?

Jane:  football chat , 346 unread messages. Men arguing about world cup between Spain and Argentina, and a text from his sister  " buy bread on your way coming back"

Amaka: that is it?

Jane: that is it, but here is what I found. I found my own anxiety, I found 3 hours of sleep I lost.m, I found  how to disrespect the man who paid my bribe price in full 

Amaka: are you serious?

Jane: yes, the worst part? He woke up this morning, kissed my forehead and said thanks for not checking my phone. I hate that.

Amaka: He knew?

Jane: he didn't, But he felt it. Guilty people sleep well, Amaka innocent people feel their spouse turn EFCC in the night.

Amaka: so what now?

Jane: now I mind my business for peace to reign. Let me tell you what I learned, as a sister to sister. I was looking for evidence, control and problem against the man who love and also against my peace.

Marriage is not a crime scene. Amaka, if you treat your husband like a suspect, he will start acting like one. Or he will start acting like he wants to be single.

Amaka: what if he is cheating?

Jane: the phone checking won't stop it. A cheating man is a cheating man. But an innocent man that you monitor like CCTV ? You will push him out yourself. Trust is the only currency in this marriage bank. Once you spend it on suspicion. You are both broke.

Amaka: so we should just be blind? 

Jane: no, be wise. Watch patterns not passwords. A man who love you shows it before 11pm . He shows it in how he plans, provides, protects, prays. If all that is intact, leave his notification to God and NSA.

I asked myself yesterday,   do I want to be right or do I want to be happy?. Because if I find nothing, I am still the woman who invaded privacy. Nobody wins.

Amaka: so what's the new rule?

Jane: the new rule is; I water my own garden. I ask questions face to face. I build a home he wants to run to not a person he want to log out of . Peace of mind is expensive, Amaka checking his phone is me using my own money to buy problem.

Amaka: sigh, you are right. My husband's phone is not my job description. Wife is not DSS .

Jane: exactly. If peace must rain, some women need to close their umbrella of suspicion and enjoy the weather.

Amaka: to peace.

Jane: and not knowing his phone password. That is his business, and mine is to be loved, not to be detective.

Moral lesson.

A woman who minds her business in marriage isn't blind. She is just booked, busy, and blessed with rest. Snooping is a full time job with no salary, only stress.

If you must check something,

 check your own heart.

 Check your gratitude.

Check your character.

Check your food before it burns. Leave his phone. Let peace reign
